This will ultimately lead snowboarding in Canada to become fully integrated; providing the same opportunities, support and expectations for all participants.<\/p>\n<h4>EVENT FORMAT<\/h4>\n<p>Para-snowboard events include male and female athletes living with a physical disability such as(but not limited to) spinal cord injury, cerebral palsy and amputation. There are two official disciplines in Para Snowboarding; Snowboardcross and Banked Slalom separated into different levels of competitions; Provincial events, Continental cups, World cups, World Championships and\u00a0 Paralympic Winter Games.<\/p>\n<h5><span class=\"red\">PARA SNOWBOARDCROSS<\/span><\/h5>\n<p>During qualification, each athlete completes 2 runs down the course with their best run determining qualification results which seed the knock-out brackets. Finals consist of competitors racing in head-to-head heats of 2 to 4 athletes.<\/p>\n<p>The ideal para snowboardcross (SBX) slope allows for the construction of all or some of the following terrain features:<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Banks (crescent-shaped)<br \/>\n\u2022 Doubled banks<br \/>\n\u2022 Rollers<br \/>\n\u2022 Offset rollers (single, double, triple, etc.)<br \/>\n\u2022 Minor jumps<\/p>\n<p>Other terrain features can be built, but safety considerations and the riding level of the athletes must always be respected.<\/p>\n<h5><span class=\"red\">PARA BANKED SLALOM<\/span><\/h5>\n<p>Each\u00a0athlete\u00a0completes\u00a02\u00a0runs down the course\u00a0with\u00a0their\u00a0best run\u00a0determining\u00a0the final\u00a0placing\u00a0order,\u00a0based\u00a0on\u00a0ascending\u00a0time. There\u00a0is\u00a0only\u00a0one rider at a time on the course.\u00a0Banked Slalom attempts to replicate the spirit of surfing on a snowboard, with the course often set up in a gully, featuring racing gates on alternate banked turns.<\/p>\n<h4>INSTRUCTION\/COACHING<\/h4>\n<p>The Canada Snowboard Coaching Program (CSCP) is Canada~Snowboard\u2019s resource for the training and certification of snowboard coaches. The CSCP is a part of the Coaching Association of Canada\u2019s National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP). Detailed information on the CSCP is available<a href=\"https:\/\/www.canadasnowboard.ca\/en\/programs\/technical\/coaching\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u00a0here.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The CSCP\u2019s integrated module for coaching athletes with a disability in snowboarding has been integrated into all Coaching Workshops.<\/p>\n<h4>OFFICIALS TRAINING PROGRAM<\/h4>\n<p>The purpose of the Officials Training Program is to provide snowboard officials with a greater understanding of the role they will assume during competition and to introduce them to the rules of snowboard competition, the International Rules of Competition (IRC) of the F\u00e9d\u00e9ration Internationale de Ski (FIS).
